COMEDIAN Neil Fitzmaurice will tonight reveal plans for the new Rhys Jones Community Centre in Liverpool.
The Peep Show star will join supporters of the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund for the charitys official launch.
The event, which will take place at Alma de Cuba, will showcase the proposals for the £1.5m centre, which would be built in Croxteth Park, close to where Rhys was shot dead in August, 2007.
Guests can have their say on what the building will look like. It will include a multi-use games area, changing facilities, an auditorium and a youth centre.
Anfield-born Neil, 39, who played Ray Von in Phoenix Nights, said: I am honoured to be supporting the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund.
I’m a dad, Ive got four boys, and I dont think any parent in this city or in any other city does not worry about the future of their children.
The dignity that Melanie and Stephen Jones showed after the horror of what happened to their son Rhys was awe-inspiring.
It is so important that Liverpool pulls together to do something positive to remember Rhys. Liverpool is an amazing city, we really know how to put support each other when we need it.
Neil will be joined by artists including Liverpool band The Maybes, Beverley Anne Keenan supported by Together and Sense of Sound choir, ex-Eton Road star Danny Morris, comedian Stephen Porter and Amsterdam lead singer Ian Prowse.
The Rhys Jones Memorial event will bring together all supporters of the appeal, including the ECHOs childrens charity, Liverpool Unites, the Rhys Jones Sports Foundation and Radio Citys Cash for Kids.
Rhyss parents Melanie and Stephen Jones will attend, along with singers, musicians, comedians and past Liverpool footballing legends.
Event manager Christine Chellew said: This event will bring together all the supporters of the Rhys Jones campaign. It is another great example of Liverpool uniting together for such a strong cause.
We are honoured to have such great artists and supporters attending this very special event.
The guests will be able to see exactly where their money is going. The community centre will provide a safe place for children to play.
Entry is £10 for admission and entertainment. You can buy tickets on the door at Alma de Cuba.
Local artists to perform at major charity fundraising event
May 28, 2009
No doubt like the rest of the population of this country and indeed the rest of the world you will have been horrified by the never to be forgotten, terrible events that led to the tragic death of a beautiful little boy James Bulger. Please take a moment of your time to read this letter.
Esther Rantzen, patron of Red Balloon, was inspired to develop the idea of a memorial to my son, James during a visit to Liverpool in 2007. She believed it extraordinary that there was no memorial to him, and so with the help of the people not only in Liverpool but across the world, we, together created James Bulger House.
The Red Balloon Learner Centre is a charity aiming to raise £1,000,000 in order to create James Bulger House, a place where children who have been bullied can study in safety. The young people we take have been bullied to such an extent that they are unable to go to mainstream school. Our aim is for them to recover, and then return to school or move on to college or into employment.
In order to bring us closer to our target,we are holding a celebrity Charity Gala evening, to be held at the Kirkby Civic suite, Knowsley, Liverpool. The night will hold a variety show showcasing Liverpools "best" talent, appearing will be Lewis Devine, Terri-Ann Devine, James Rooney,Kelli Bond, Tina Malone (Shameless), Esther Ranzsten, Schooner, All for you, Gillian Ross, Diane Marsh, Alex Devine, X Factors Danny Morris (Former Eton Road member), Tracy Jay, plus many more. It will be a red carpet event with many of The north wests celebs attending. (Tickets are selling fast but a small amount are still being sold at the Kirby Suite, For more information please contact 07825519453 )
Aside from this event all the above have teamed together to release a charity single version of Michael Jacksons Heal the World, this song lies close to the hearts of all our trustees and especially to James' mother Denise as Michael Jackson himself personally wrote to her after the death of her son, The single will get a full UK Release in July this year, along with a music video aired across the whole network of music television, So that we can touch the nation and raise as much money possible for such a good cause.
If you are a member of facebook, please join the James Bulger House Group by typing 'James Bulger House' into your facebook search engine. There is also a page dedicated to the charity single under the title of 'BULIEF', a sample of this track can be found on youtube, by clicking on this link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxjwFAlL59A
Please do not hesitate contacting us through our spokesperson Terri Ann on 07825519453.

Diana Vickers & Ruth LorenzoPacific Road Arts Centre
Dec 27 2008 by Jade Wright, Liverpool Echo
WHEN Alexandra Burke won the X Factor, she also got the gift of a Christmas number one as a bonus.
Away from the headlines, now the rest of the finalists must find their own path to stardom, or return to their day jobs.
Tomorrow night two of the shows hopefuls Diana Vickers and Ruth Lorenzo are heading for Wirral to perform at the Pacific Road Arts Centre in Birkenhead.
Quirky Diana from Blackburn has been singing since the age of 11. Shes had singing lessons and has always taken part in local competitions but had never gigged or sung professionally before the show. She auditioned for X Factor while studying theatre studies, classics, and psychology and her plan is to go to drama school to study musical theatre.
She became the ninth contestant to be voted off the show in an incredibly emotional and tense semi final.
The tearful 17-year-old was evicted after receiving the least number of public votes.
She will be accompanied by Ruth who will be bringing her big rock chick voice and the Iberian charm that melted Simon Cowells heart.
Also performing live on the show will be Danny Morris, formerly of boyband Eton Road, and Shaun Rogerson, who both appeared on the X Factor in 2006.
The show will be opened by Wirral-based dance group Anamal Dance Company. They won the Liverpool Capital of Culture competition with their Cirque de Rouge routine.
Pop Factory Live presents Diana Vickers and Ruth Lorenzo at Pacific Road Arts Centre in Birkenhead tomorrow night.
